Conference Results
The Mariupol Conference has been hailed as the most significant environmental event in Ukraine since Kiev-2003.
Among its many achievements were:
Reciprocal affirmation by Government, Industry and Civil Society to work together both contructively and in partnership to improve Ukraine's environment
Endorsing the principles of Open Dialogue
Affirming Ukraine's Millennium Development Goals
Re-affirming the Aarhus Principles
Acknowledging Environmental Rights and the health consequences of pollution
Commiting to the refinement of National Environmental Priorities
Drawing up national environmental reports and Action Plans
Pledging Government support to Non-governmental Organizations
The Conference Resolution, which is reproduced here in both Ukrainian and English will now serve as a blueprint and as an endorsement for direct and concrete actions for all sectors to prioritise and tackle the most pressing environment and sustainability problems.
